Carrie Betts

Carrie Betts has been the librarian at West Maple Elementary School since 2016. She obtained her bachelor's degrees in Biology and Exercise Science, as well as her teaching certificate, from Lake Superior State University. From 2002, she taught High School Biology and Science. In 2010, she completed her master's degree in Library and Information Science at Wayne State University and has been working in the school library ever since.

Some notable accomplishments in her professional career include participating in the American Library Association's (ALA) Leadership Institute in 2016, serving on the American Association of School Librarians (AASL) Practice Committee, being involved in the Library of Michigan's School Library Workgroup and LSTA Grants Committee, receiving recognition as Michigan's 21st Century Model School Library in 2022, being elected as the President-Elect of the Michigan Association of School Librarians in 2023 and being honored as AASL's National School Library of the Year in 2023. Additionally, she serves as the elementary library facilitator for BPS.
